JOIN's proprietary 'Level' is a new and comprehensive measure of your fitness and progress and also allows comparing yourself to other cyclists. We calculate your level based on your initial shape and the data that we find in your workouts. The higher your level the better trained you are. You can find it in the JOIN training dashboard by sliding left to the second page of the dashboard. You can also share it with your friends.
Between 0 and 50
The range of the level is between 0 and 50. An untrained beginner will start between 0 and 5, while level 50 belongs to a world-class Tour de France GC contender in top shape.
FTP/Weight
Your level is partly based on your FTP and your weight. FTP is the maximum power you can produce over one hour and tells you a lot about your capacities as a cyclist. You can establish your FTP in an exercise test or with a DIY field test. Make sure you set the FTP value correctly. If you don't know your FTP, don't worry, we will be able to make a good estimate after you have been training for some time with JOIN.
FTP Progress
When you train, your FTP improves. However, you can't do an FTP-test every week to update your FTP, that would be too much of an effort (physically but also mentally!) Therefore, we calculate an estimated increase of your FTP based on your training data and adapt your level accordingly.
Fitness
How good you are is not only based on how fast you can go for one hour (your FTP), but also how long you can ride your bike. That is why your level is partly based on your fitness.
Accuracy
The more recent and complete the data that you provide, the more accurate are estimates become. Power meter data are preferred over heart rate readings for a high accuracy. And please try to update your weight and FTP regularly.
